The Ark is being constructed to the specifications of Noah’s original Ark--450 feet long, 75
feet wide, and 45 feet high. To give you a better idea of what that will look like--Imagine a structure one and half football fields long and three stories high! (View Our Real Media Clip)To date, over 3,000 tons of cement have been poured to support this structure.
Once completed, the Ark will house a Christian school, Bible college, 1,500 seat auditorium, conference facilities, a Noah’s Ark historical room, counseling center, and facilities for radio and television.
The work on this massive task was started on Easter Sunday, April 18, 1976, when groundbreaking ceremonies were held at the Ark site. At that time, Pastor Greene and his congregation dug only a few
shovels full of dirt. On September 3rd of that same year, five bulldozers took over to dig the hole for the foundational structure.
From the start God has been faithful in providing all the needed manpower and materials to complete the foundational structure. 76 cement
pillars, 34 sway-brace pillars, and a 4-foot high 9-inch wide foundational wall which goes around the outside of the cement pillars. Steel reinforcement rod was needed and God spoke to a man to donate
it. Anchor bolts were needed and they were donated. Cement forms were needed and a man visited the site who “happened” to be a cement
form salesman. Wages were needed to begin construction, and God instructed a man to give a large donation just before it was time to begin work that year. Events such as these and others too numerous
to mention can only be described as miraculous since the project began with just $300, a typewriter, and a mimeograph machine!
With the foundation of the Ark completed, everything has been looking up, literally, because the next step of the construction involves the outside shell or steel
superstructure. (Click here to view our Architectural design for Gods Ark of Safety)This will be done in three phases. Each phase involves erecting
one-third of the Ark. Work is currently in Phase One. Actual contruction of the Ark is just a tool for the “Vision” given to Pastor Greene and his congregation--a tool to tell the world that
God loves them and Jesus is coming soon! As people come from the far corners of the world to see the building of the Ark, they also will be presented with the Gospel and be given the opportunity to receive
the gift of eternal life.
